About the Position
In this role, you will join the Space Data Insights team within Slingshot's AI and Data Science department. You will contribute directly to Slingshot's vision to accelerate space sustainability and create a safer, more connected world. You will develop and deploy AI and ML analytics that contribute to Slingshot's mission goals by leveraging diverse data streams and smart approaches to increase transparency into the space environment.

What You'll Do
Create and deploy algorithms that integrate with and further the capability of Slingshot products that provide insight into the space operating picture.
Lead research and implementation efforts for internal capabilities and contracts that pull useful insights from diverse data streams

Collaborate with other Slingshot teams through the development and provision of useful insights for research, orbital analysis, and other AI systems

Publish and present algorithms and research at approved conferences and journals
.
Take ownership of projects through the full pipeline, including information gathering from customers, dataset management, algorithm development, and logging and deployment.
Requirements
AI/ML expertise
Demonstrable experience in the application of AI/ML methodologies to science and/or engineering disciplines, covering classical statistics-based methods, unsupervised learning, timeseries analysis, deep learning, etc.
Hands-on experience developing and deploying supervised and/or unsupervised learning models
Software development experience
Familiarity with object-oriented or functional programming principles
Expertise in at least one high-level programming language (e.g. Python, R, C++, Java)
Collaborative source code management and maintenance processes (e.g. Github, code reviews, CI/CD)
Ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced, evolving operational environment that spans military, government, and industry partners
Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills
Passion for Space and AI/ML applications
Must be a U.S. citizen willing to obtain and maintain government clearances
Preferred Qualifications
Strong experience with time series data, anomaly detection, and unsupervised learning methods.
Experience with data management and querying from a variety of database schemas (SQL and No SQL).
Demonstrated experience developing technical visualizations and analyses
Experience handling code pipelines end to end, including software engineering, unit testing, documentation, model creation, and deployment and monitoring.
Experience with cloud processing and environments and big data management and multiprocessing.
Experience leading projects, working with clients to define requirements lists, and building datasets and tasks to deliver final projects.
Peer-reviewed publications and/or presentations in a scientific discipline, AI/ML focus preferred.
6+years industry or commensurate academic research experience (e.g. PhD and/or MS) in scientific or AI/ML-related domains.
Experience with space and astrodynamics is valuable but not required .
Qualified for or in possession of an active Top Secret or Top Secret / Secure Compartmented Information clearance level.
Demonstrated experience leading the development, implementation, and transition of technology to production is desirable.

Classification: Full-time Exempt (computer professional exemption)
Salary: $147,000 - $245,000
