Description

The Director - Risk Governance & Strategy will ensure key Enterprise Risk Management ("ERM") processes including identification, assessment, monitoring, management, and reporting of risks appropriately align with risk appetite, capacity, and tolerance levels. The role will be an integral part of a risk management team that encourages creativity, leadership, and influence. In addition, the Director will play a critical role in shaping and executing the organization's risk strategy, ensuring that risk management objectives are integrated into overall business goals and support long-term sustainable growth. The position partners with First Line of Defense risk managers, second line of defense stakeholders, and operational leadership in governance processes associated with the Bank's enterprise risk management framework.

Position Accountabilities



  • Lead the development and enhancement of the enterprise risk management framework and assist in helping the framework align with industry leading practices, including risk appetite, risk policy and procedures, taxonomies, and reporting.
  • Coordinate with risk partners on initiatives to promote a risk-aware culture, including the development of education and communication programs.
  • Assist the Senior Director of Enterprise Risk Management, the Chief Risk Officer and Risk Leadership Team in strategy-setting and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Lead the successful execution of the strategic plan for the risk program.
  • Contribute to the identification and assessment of enterprise risks, including but not limited to top, emerging, strategic, operational, regulatory and key initiative risks.
  • Identify, evaluate, and escalate issues that conflict with the Bank's risk appetite, and help in the management of enterprise-wide KRIs to monitor risk across the organization.
  • Maintain and enhance the risk reporting process by aggregating risk data and working with stakeholders to prepare enterprise risk reports for Executive management and the Board of Directors.
  • Optimize risk management and board committee operations to ensure appropriate flow of enterprise risk reporting.
  • Lead the management of the enterprise risk governance structure and work with stakeholders on the composition and purpose of committees and sub-committees.
  • Promote awareness of risk frameworks, policies, and standards throughout the organization.
  • Work with the reporting and analytics stakeholders within the Risk team to help embed data-driven metrics, key risk indicators, and continuous controls monitoring within ERM reporting.

This position reports to the Senior Director of Enterprise Risk Management

Position Qualifications

Education & Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field;
  • A minimum of 10 years of bank risk management or internal audit subject matter expertise.
  • Experience with ERM governance documents and routines.
  • Regulatory experience with bank regulators such as the Federal Reserve Bank is a plus.

Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
