At NYSTEC, we know that we succeed when individuals and teams flourish personally and professionally, so our benefits and perks support that mindset.

About the Role:

As a project manager for independent verification and validation (IV&V) in the Technology Procurement and Implementation Services (TPIS) practice area, you will collaborate with team members to conceptualize, deliver, and support our clients on their technology and system modernization efforts. NYSTEC is considered a trusted advisor, providing subject matter expertise and connecting the dots for our clients. This role has a hybrid work schedule, allowing for remote work as well as on-site work in the New York City area with the client, as needed.

Serving as a project manager for IV&V, your day-to-day role as a NYSTEC consultant will include leading an IV&V team responsible for assessing the quality, performance, and compliance of a vendor-implemented third-party software solution. • Advise the client on opportunities to improve project planning, execution, and risk management to enhance the likelihood of successful implementation.
  • Communicate findings, recommendations, and progress updates through clear reports and briefings to client stakeholders.
  • Oversee IV&V project activities, schedules, and resources to ensure timely, objective, and value-added support throughout the engagement.
  • Facilitate collaboration between the client, vendor, and other stakeholders to promote transparency, accountability, and effective issue resolution.
  • Monitor project risks, dependencies, and change management activities proactively, providing independent analysis and recommendations for mitigation.
  • Apply knowledge of systems development life cycles, project management methodologies, and industry best practices to guide IV&V activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying lessons learned and developing strategies to strengthen future project governance and delivery.

About you:
Required Qualifications

  • Ability to plan, execute, and manage complex technology projects, including schedule, scope, and resource management.
  • Excellent understanding of IV&V principles, methodologies, and best practices for assessing vendor-delivered solutions.
  • Familiarity with systems implementation, software development life cycles (SDLC), and integrating third-party solutions.
  • Ability to evaluate project data, identify risks and issues, and develop actionable recommendations for improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical and project information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to learn and apply new content and skills and adapt to evolving client needs.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working on information technology projects.
  • Project management professional (PMP) certification.
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies, such as scrum and Kanban.
  • Experience managing large-scale projects with multiple teams from other organizations.
  • Ability to provide strategic insights and practical recommendations that enhance client outcomes, strengthen project performance, and deliver measurable business value.
