Neuro Rad Tech

SMH Interventional Radiology Rad Tech must have Neurosurgery/neuroscience experience. The position involves 5-8 hour shifts with room for negotiation up to a maximum of 4-10 hour shifts. There is no rotating shift schedule. The role includes 2-3 call shifts per month along with at least 1 holiday assignment.

The client prefers healthcare professionals with interventional radiology experience. For reference, the unit typically trains radiologic technologists coming from other modalities for up to six months when they start in neuro interventional radiology (IR).

• Demonstrates competence in selecting exposure factors, positioning, and consistently producing radiologic images of diagnostic quality.
• Works cooperatively with all department members to resolve problems expediently.
• Displays flexibility, team spirit, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability when dealing with customers.
• Demonstrates awareness of and sensitivity for patient's rights in all interfaces with patients.

• Administers oral contrast as needed per exam.
• Instructs and prepares patients for radiographic/fluoroscopic examinations and assists Radiologist during procedures.
• Demonstrates competence and proficiency in the operation of all x-ray equipment, CR, and DR systems.
• Reports equipment malfunctions to manager or lead.
• Completes all assigned procedures in a timely manner and uses time between procedures to the department's advantage by assisting others, performing clerical duties, stocking, transporting, etc.
• Understands role in maintaining medication security to authorized personnel only.
• Demonstrates competency in providing healthcare services in own job category to all age groups.
• Demonstrates competency in interpersonal relationships with all age groups.

• Demonstrates competency in the use of Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS.
• Participates in hospital performance improvement activities (BPI projects, task forces, etc.) when warranted.
• Maintains confidentiality using own password and all patient care modules.
• Answers telephone inquiries of a technical nature from physicians or hospital personnel in other areas of the hospital while maintaining good phone etiquette.

• BLS (American Heart Association ONLY)
• Two (2) years experience
• Licensing in the state of NY
