SCOPE & CONTACTS:

Incumbent has extensive contact with the company's lending and loan support staff. The incumbent must have the ability to express his or herself in a clear and concise manner. The incumbent is responsible for credit supervision over consumer credit products for the Bank. Daily, the incumbent will be involved and oversee the credit decisions of consumer loans and commitments. These evaluations include underwriting and assessments of the borrower's financial condition, the borrower's credit worthiness, collateral analysis, and compliance with Bank policy and regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Evaluate and assist in decisioning of consumer loans and commitments.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on consumer lending, including supporting corporate efforts initiated by the compliance and loan review departments.
  • Attend Loan Committees and engage in lending decisions with relationship managers, regional management and regional board members, if such exist for consumer credits.
  • Oversee the underwriting process for consumer credit, which includes the management of the consumer analyst department.
  • Participate in discussions with customers and potential prospects about lending opportunities. Also, engage with customers during a workout situation.
  • Serve as the primary approver on exception approvals for consumer credit.
  • Report to the Directors Loan & Deposit Committee as a member of the credit administration team. Through their direction, carryout corporate lending directives and credit administration functions set forth by the Chief Credit Officer, executive management and board of directors.
  • Present findings, conclusions, and recommendations from credit and portfolio risk analysis on consumer credits to various audiences including relationship managers, regional management and board members, executive management, corporate board members, auditors, and examiners.
  • Consult Chief Credit Officer, executive management, and board members on emerging or elevated risks associated with lending policy, procedures, practices, economy, or other factors.
  • Lead, motivate, and indirectly manage relationship managers. Ongoing assistance in the career development of lending staff to include recruiting, hiring, and training.
  • Engage with auditors and examiners and fulfill audit and regulatory requests for consumer lending.
  • Actively participate in the Customer Service First sales and service culture, support the values of the organization, and follow established company policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance, or a combination of suitable education and experience.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in lending and/or risk management is required.
  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to logically organize and interpret information from multiple sources.
  • Ability to analyze a borrower's credit worthiness.
  • Working knowledge of consumer law and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrate ability and willingness to determine a course of action and carry it out.
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities, dependability and thoroughness in meeting responsibilities, and willingness to seek out and accept responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of products specifically advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
