DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As the Education and Visitor Services Intern at Brandywine Battlefield Park, you will work with our Education and Visitor Services Departments to interpret our museum's collections, conduct education programs and summer camps, assist with special events, and work directly with the public. Brandywine Battlefield Park has a small museum and two historic houses through which we interpretively focus on the Battle of Brandywine, the people who lived here, and how they were impacted by the battle. You will be expected to assist in conducting tours and programs including the summer camp program and to help with front desk operations. You may also have the opportunity to participate in a special project based on the interpretive and programmatic goals of the site, which may include research, as well as participate in other duties to support your interests and goals, in alignment with staff capabilities. Bring this pivotal part of American history to life with our team! Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- 10 week internship, May 2026 through August 2026, approximately 225 to 300 hours
- Work hours are flexible and will be finalized between selected interns and their supervisor.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements:
- All applicants must be enrolled at a college or university in an undergraduate or graduate program at the time of their internship.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to read cursive handwriting.
- You must be able and willing to report to Chadds Ford, PA during the Summer Keystone Internship dates, which will be a 10-week period between May 11 and August 21, 2026. Lodging and transportation are not provided.
- You must be majoring, minoring, or have a concentration in History, American History, Public History, Museum Studies, or Education.
- You must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Experience working with children
Legal Requirements:
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
