Summary
The Senior P&O (HR) Specialist role will collaborate with People Services colleagues in the development and application of tools, workflows and policies that support customer service and efficiency. This role will support leaders, P&O Business Partners, and employees with subject matter expertise in assigned area, researching market trends for continuous process improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Manage the P&O Helpdesk ticket system, assign and resolve tickets timely and accurately, and ensure timely response from P&O team members
  • Identify trends and opportunities to reduce tickets and ways to improve employee experiences
  • Manage the onboarding function for the US and Canada
  • Provide P&O Business Partners weekly status reports on various functions when escalation is needed
  • Receive employee reports from the Customs Compliance Team and research or request from employees their citizenship status and city, state and country of birth
  • Manage, prepare and maintain weekly bonded warehouse reports of employees who are authorized to manipulate the inventory of bonded warehouses as required by US Customs
  • Process separation agreements, CMS queries, track payment dates and enter payments for reductions in force
  • Conduct presentations both in-person and via video calls to train the workforce on various topics, including orientation and processes.
  • Track various company policies and documents to ensure completion by all employees.
  • Provide training and subject matter expertise to teammates on the various functions within the HR Specialist and HR Assistant roles.
  • Manage the security badge system for the Iselin, NJ office
  • Research new and updated laws to ensure the company remains in compliance.
  • Develop training programs to educate managers and the workforce on various US laws and DSV policies.
  • Write new policies and update existing, as laws or company practices change.
  • Participate in the background check review team, conducting individualized assessments and determining suitability for employment.
  • Crosstrain on all roles withing team and provide backup support when needed
  • Continuously monitor processes and recommend improvement and efficiencies.
  • Maintain and update data in the HRIS system
  • Manage termination process providing required documentation
  • Manage unemployment claims including responses, wage audits and hearings
  • Process anniversary awards for employees celebrating milestone anniversaries
    Process tuition reimbursement and employee referral bonuses
    Monitor workflows and follow up for timely approvals.
    Participate in special projects and support other areas of P&O Shared Services as needed


Educational Background and Work Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or a related field and 2 years' experience working in Human Resources or support function, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.


Required Skills and Competencies



  • Strong proficiency in basic MS Office applications, with advanced Excel skills required
  • Strong English proficiency (reading, writing, and verbal); knowledge of secondary languages are a plus.
  • Experience using a helpdesk ticketing system (Zendesk a plus)
  • Experience using HRIS systems (SAP Success Factors or ADP WorkforceNow a plus)
  • Intermediate mathematical skills
  • Excellent organizational and decision-making skills
  • High-energy, enthusiastic and confident human resources professional with excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Possesses a detailed knowledge of human resource best practices
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
  • Able to multi-task across multiple projects with varying deadlines
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
  • Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines
  • Good to excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills
  • Results-oriented
  • Must have a high sense of urgency and customer service focus
  • Ability to analyze P&O processes and make practical recommendations for improvement
  • Must possess an understanding of the business and quickly learn the Company's culture and strategy
  • Must be able to deal with ambiguity, cope with change an flexible with shifting priorities


Physical Demands
Work is generally sedentary, with no specific need for physical coordination or effort. May require physical effort associated with using the computer to access information, or occasional standing, walking, lifting needed to carry out everyday activities. Hours can be extensive as well as occasionally staggered for multi-shift access. While performing the duties of this job, the employee uses his/her hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear. The employee uses computer and telephone equipment. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision and distance vision. Minimal travel maybe required for this role domestically and internationally, but not anticipated.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. The physical demands and work environment characteristics described above are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. For this position, the expected base pay is: $62,440.00 - $78,050.00 / Annual. Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, geographic location and other objective business considerations.
