faculty positions across all ranks and areas of expertise. The School of Engineering includes seven academic departments and 10 engineering majors, offering exceptional opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation. We seek outstanding scholars whose work advances one or more of our strategic priority areas:
Physical and Virtual Infrastructure, Healthcare Technology, Innovations in Energy, Defense and National Security, Experiential Learning and Professional Education. Appointments may be made in
one or more engineering departments based on the candidate's expertise and interests.
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (
CEE) invites applications for a
tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor in Transportation Engineering. However, outstanding candidates at the Associate Professor level will be considered.
Transportation Engineering: Candidates with a strong background in connected and autonomous mobility systems and/or AI in transportation and infrastructure systems, particularly in areas such as but not limited to connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) and multi-modal vehicular systems, intelligent transit systems, digital twin models at vehicular, operational, and network levels, vehicle-to-infrastructure integration, and advanced AI-powered transportation sensing, analytic, control, and infrastructure systems. The candidate is expected to advance the next generation of AI-driven smart vehicles, smart traffic sensors and controllers, real-time traffic safety and mobility applications, transportation infrastructure systems and network control, as well as smart city and smart transportation infrastructure.
The successful candidate is expected to develop and teach transportation courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels within the department, including transportation engineering, traffic safety, traffic operations and simulation, transportation systems analysis, and other related transportation courses. We are seeking to hire a faculty member with high potential to develop a well-funded research program. The successful candidate will be expected to have access to and contribute to the state-of-the-art DataCity Smart Mobility Testing Ground, collaborating with other
CEE faculty, transportation agency partners, and industry, and linking with other university research programs. |

| Minimum Education and Experience |
Applicants are expected to have a doctoral degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering, or a closely related discipline. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of scholarly productivity and external research support, as well as excellent communication skills, leadership abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment. |
