Basic FunctionAs a Procurement Apprentice, you will assist in sourcing products and services, managing supplier relationships and supporting the daily activities of the Procurement department whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in procurement and supply chain management while working alongside experienced professionals. This apprenticeship runs for 18 months and will provide you with the expertise and skills needed to excel in a high-tech engineering procurement environment, with the possibility of full-time employment upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.The apprenticeship is in person on site at Horstman, with study delivered online from the learning provider.You will have regular meetings with your course provider to ensure you are meeting the objectives of your online and work based learning, as well as with your line manager to ensure you are receiving the support you need to gain your qualifications and make the most of the opportunity for personal and professional development. Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesAssist in the preparation and submission of purchase orders.Support the team in identifying and selecting suppliers, obtaining quotes, and evaluating supplier proposals.Help maintain accurate procurement records and databases.Liaise with internal departments to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.Assist in monitoring supplier performance, including delivery times and quality standards.Support the resolution of any procurement-related issues or discrepancies.Track and report on procurement spend, savings and assist with budget management.Participate in market research to identify potential suppliers.Work closely with internal and external stakeholdersAssist in the development and implementation of procurement processes and procedures.Perform general administrative duties, including filing, record keeping, and preparing reports.
Knowledge & Ability RequiredGCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English, and Science at Grade 4 (C) or above.Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasksPersonal CharacteristicsProactive, Motivated and eager to learn.Strong interest in pursuing a career in procurementStrong problem-solving abilities.Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced work environment.Strong commitment to health and safety protocols.Horstman are an equal opportunities employer and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
