About the Job

Post-doctoral researcher in networking, edge systems and AI support for 5G/NextG network systems and vertical applications such as autonomous and remote driving. This postdoctoral researcher will participate in grant-funded research project(s) in the areas of networking, edge systems and AI support for emerging network systems including O-RAN systems, cooperative autonomous driving and tele-operations of autonomous vehicles. Under the primary supervision of Prof. Zhi-Li Zhang, the postdoctoral researcher is expected to work with an interdisciplinary team of researchers and Ph.D students from Department of Computer Science & Engineering as well as other departments.

Duties/Responsibilities:

(60%) Research and development in networking, edge systems and AI support for emerging 5G/NextG network systems and relevant vertical applications.
(30%) Participating and leading the system development and implementation of wireless network platforms including O-RAN based network systems and testbeds to support emerging 5G/NextG user cases
(10%) Dissemination via articles, conference presentations

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

PhD in computer science, or a field related to computational sciences.
Must have a strong background in computer vision, artificial intelligence (AI), and/or wireless networking and systems, and related fields.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to those applicants with strong experiences in wireless Networks and AI-based research and development experience of related emerging 5G and NextG networked systems, including O-RAN, and tele-operations of autonomous systems.

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Minnesota has been on the cutting-edge for its education, research and outreach for decades. The networking, mobile systems and AI labs under the leadership of Prof. Zhi-Li Zhang have been conducting leading-edge research on emerging 5G and NextG networked systems and key enabling use cases over 5G/NextG networked systems as well as novel AI techniques in support of such systems and use cases.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $61,008.00 to $62,232.00 annually; depending on education/qualifications/experience
