SENIOR BUYER - GLOBAL LOGISTICS
SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN

As a member of the Global Logistics team, you will be responsible for negotiating and purchasing logistics services from global logistics service providers to support plant and customer requirements. This position will utilize InforNexus for sourcing activities as well as maintaining / managing contracts and rates with carriers. InforNexus provides a cloud-based collaboration platform between global suppliers, logistics service providers and Lear Plants that brings global supply chain visibility and control to Lear Corporation.

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:



  • Negotiate and purchase logistics services (FCL, LCL, Air freight, Parcel)
  • Conduct regular RFQs to support logistics network


  • Maintain pricing and manage contracts within InforNexus


  • Drive data global team requires to optimize regional plants inbound freight in other regions
  • Support regional logistics managersto optimize logistics processes


  • Support lane implementations
  • Supporttransportation and logistics studies


  • Process and distribute monthly metrics and develop key performance indicator reports


  • Manage supply base and develop relationships to improve performance


  • Resolve day to day international logistics procurement issues and disruptions


  • Perform problem resolution on a day to day basis for issues related to and support of freight bill audit and payment
  • Manage spot shipments for Southfield campus on an as needed basis
  • Utilize freight payment data to drive & validate engineered and optimized savings
  • Manage carrier claims
  • Manage Global Logistics website
  • Maintain training materials and support training on InforNexus for procurement functions to the global team

Your Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management,Logistics, Transportation, or equivalent work experience is required
  • +2 years' experience in Supply Chain Management
  • Must understand integrated supply chain and logistics concepts, as well as the relationship with service providers and outside vendors
  • Experience in global logistics and/or import/exportprocesses
  • The candidate must be highly proficient in all MS Office applications
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks efficiently, have great attention to detail
  • Advanced problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Proficient English language skills required
  • Experience in plant operations and purchasing is preferred
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to interact with clients in resolving problems and coordinating implementations
