JOB SUMMARY

Evaluates the financial condition of individuals and businesses applying for credit with the Bank. Prepares spreadsheets, financial spreads, reports, summaries and opinions for Loan Officers on new, renewal and existing loans. Provides more in-depth analysis and is able to identify trends. Oversees, provides guidance/training and may direct the work of other Credit Analysts. Makes recommendations to loan committee based on analysis and conformity to loan policy. Conducts loan file review and tracks financial reporting and covenants.

Job Responsibilities:

Primary:



  1. Assists in the administration of the company's commercial loan portfolios, to include credit risk management and the accurate and timely underwriting of loans to maintain quality control and minimize losses.
  2. Executes loan policies and ensures that deviations from policy are properly reported.
  3. Assists in the review and interpretation of new pending laws and regulations that potentially affect the organization's business practices.
  4. Takes the lead on more complex credit files and consults with Senior/Chief Credit Officer on complex or unusual loan relationships as needed.
  5. Provides direction to other Credit Analysts, providing guidance, training and mentoring to less experienced analysts.
  6. Tracking and recording of annual customer tax returns as well as monthly and quarterly financial statements.
  7. Updating the core system with the necessary information for the asset-based lending controls.
  8. Reviews lending policies regularly.
  9. Orders and reviews required loan due diligence, including but not limited to appraisals, evaluations, valuations, and environmental reports.
  10. Assists in the coordination with compliance manager regarding examination of lending practices and compliance with banking lending regulations.
  11. Prepares presentations concerning credit risk under the direction of the Chief Credit Officer for senior staff and board.
  12. Assists in the company's loan/overdrawn account collections process.
  13. Assists the Senior/Chief Credit Officer with monthly and quarterly reports for senior staff and board.
  14. Serves as a resource for credit policy and procedure interpretation for commercial lending officers.
  15. Conducts regular Loan Reviews of commercial, residential and consumer loan files, as needed.
  16. Acts as an advocate for the Bank in all interactions both internally and externally, including overall product knowledge of deposit and loans for aligning customers/prospects with the products that best meet their needs.
  17. Attend regular trainings/seminars both inside and outside the bank, as needed.
  18. Works harmoniously and collaboratively with team members to accomplish bank objectives.
  19. Assist with other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, economics, finance or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Certifications: None

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Training and Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of prior commercial credit analysis experience required. Superior attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. Successful completion of in-house training program. Ability to work autonomously and with little guidance. Displays the confidence and competence to gain/maintain the Bank's credibility. Takes initiative to learn, develop oneself and see things through from start to finish. Excellent interpersonal communication, problem solving and computer skills; ability to operate standard office equipment.

Essential Physical Requirements:



  1. Ability to converse verbally and in writing with others.
  2. Ability to utilize general office equipment, Internet and various business software programs (i.e. MS office).
  3. Ability to travel within the community to attend various events and meetings.
