The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, founded in 1946, is dedicated to training future veterinarians, providing services to animal owners and veterinarians, and conducting investigations to improve the health of animals as well as people. The college benefits pets and their owners, food-producing animals, and wildlife by offering the highest quality hospital and diagnostic laboratory services. | Position Summary |
The Endoscopy Veterinary Assistant plays a critical role in supporting services that require the use of both rigid and flexible endoscopy equipment. This position is responsible for coordinating and assisting with endoscopic procedures for patients in both the small and large animal hospitals, maintaining procedure areas, managing inventory and supplies, and ensuring compliance with quality control and safety standards. This veterinary assistant also serves as a resource for training, troubleshooting and consultation related to endoscopy equipment and techniques. |

- Successful completion of formal endoscopy training course as assigned by hospital administration within first 6 months of employment.
- Strong technical skills in endoscopy equipment operation and maintenance.
- Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a willingness to teach and mentor others.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping.

- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions, ability to deal with problems with concrete variables and draw appropriate/accurate conclusions.
- May sit, stand, stoop bend and walk intermittently during the day on hard floor surfaces.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to accurately work with small, delicate pieces of equipment or large heavy objects/containers/machinery.
- Wearing all protective gear including mask, gloves, gown, hairnet, safety goggles etc.
- May need to work for long periods of time with arms extended.

a. Collaborate with clinical services, the Anesthesia Coordinator, and other staff as applicable to schedule patients requiring endoscopy or the use of related procedure space/equipment.
b. Assist during procedures ensuring proper and timely set-up, continuity of workflow, patient care, and clean-up.

b. Perform equipment set-up, cleaning, sterilization, storage, and troubleshooting.
