Who We Are
BioMarin is a global biotechnology company that relentlessly pursues bold science to translate genetic discoveries into new medicines that advance the future of human health.
Since our founding in 1997, we have applied our scientific expertise in understanding the underlying causes of genetic conditions to create transformative medicines, using a number of treatment modalities.
Using our unparalleled expertise in genetics and molecular biology, we develop medicines for patients with significant unmet medical need. We enlist the best of the best - people with the right technical expertise and a relentless drive to solve real problems - and create an environment that empowers our teams to pursue bold, innovative science. With this distinctive approach to drug discovery, we've produced a diverse pipeline of commercial, clinical and preclinical candidates that have well-understood biology and provide an opportunity to be first-to-market or offer a substantial benefit over existing therapeutic options.
About Worldwide Research and Development
From research and discovery to post-market clinical development, our WWRD engine involves all bench and clinical research and the associated groups that support those endeavors. Our teams work on developing first-in-class and best-in-class therapeutics that provide meaningful advances to patients who live with genetic diseases.
BioMarin is the world leader in delivering therapeutics that provide meaningful advances to patients who live with serious and life-threatening rare genetic diseases. We target diseases that lack effective therapies and affect relatively small numbers of patients, many of whom are children. These conditions are often inherited, difficult to diagnose, progressively debilitating and have few, if any, treatment options. BioMarin will continue to focus on advancing therapies that are the first or best of their kind.
SUMMARY:
The BioMarin Summer Internship Program will enable students to gain valuable experience and knowledge of the processes and systems within BioMarin, while gaining an insight into the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. Over the course of 10 - 12 weeks our interns gain industry experience while working alongside our talented team on meaningful projects.
BioMarinGlobal Data Science (GDS)is responsible for designing, capturing, analyzing, and presenting data that can drive key decisions for Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, and other business areas of BioMarin. With a quality-by-design culture,GDSbuilds quality data that is fit-for-purpose to support statistically sound investigation of critical scientific questions. TheGDSteam develops solid analytics that are visually relevant and impactful in supporting key data-driven decisions across BioMarin.
TheGDSData ManagementScience (DMS)group contributes toGlobal Data Scienceby providing complete, correct, and consistent analyzable data at data, data structure and documentation levels following international standards and GCP. The Data Management Operations (DMO) and Data Systems and Acquisitions (DSA) groups within DMS are experts in data acquisition, validation and clinical data preparation. The DMO and DSA groups design and develop data acquisition systems, data quality validation processes, and package clinical data for analysis. They define standard data models, automate data flows, and ensure data quality and integrity through innovative methods, adhering to regulatory guidelines. The DMO group drive data snapshots and database locks.
