The University Housing Department is seeking (1) Building Supervisor to join the already awesome team taking the Department to the next level of excellence!

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

o This position will supervise a group of mechanical trades workers engaged in the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of university housing campus structures and fixtures. This position will also oversee the work of contractors as they install, alter, maintain and repair campus structures and fixtures.

o Supervise all custodial, mechanical, grounds and contract personnel working in the buildings. Plans, organize, and schedule work assignments for subordinates, analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems. Trains subordinates in safe and efficient work practices method, tools, and equipment usage.

o Reviews job requests and determine work priorities, estimates time and material for jobs to be performed and requisitions materials and supplies as needed. Performs Maintenance as required Closes work orders after completion of work. Works to maintain accurate and current information in the work order system. Searched the work order system for needed information and runs appropriate reports when needed.

o Monitors all buildings systems, such as environment control, safety, elevators, and communications.

o Maintain standards of safety and performance needed to ensure that the repair of campus structure and fixture are maintained and monitor compliance to standards.

o Confers with management to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measure to improve campus structures and fixtures. Takes emergency call 24/7 and responds to the appropriate personnel to handle the emergency.

o Participates in building construction work, repairs or alterations of original constructions.

o Maintains supplies/tools and materials in good working condition. Maintains and keeps current all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and other documentation.

o Assist the Associate Director in the oversight and review of contractors, ensuring that the University receives the contracted work.

o Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

Post secondary degree, diploma, or equivalent and five years experience in building mechanical maintenance work; or nine years experience as a handyman in building and mechanical maintenance work; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum one-year experience in contract supervision.
