Primary Purpose of Position
This position is responsible for the creation and modification of Financial Aid-related reporting in WebFOCUS, SQL, Tableau, or other reporting platforms and tools supported by UNC Charlotte. The areas this position supports require proficiency in fielding a broad range of data of concern to Financial Aid, such as: awarding and packaging of aid, estimated cost of attendance, verification, general student enrollment, admissions, scholarships, and data from other related functional departments and offices. This position is responsible for developing reports for the Director of Financial Aid, senior administrators, colleagues in Academic Affairs IT support, and other campus stakeholders. Considerable skill and accuracy with complex data are essential for success in this position. This position is also responsible for developing and maintaining output from report distribution applications such as Report Caster, and web-based, customer self-service portals such as Report Central.
Additionally, the role of this position includes working with the Associate Director of Systems for Financial Aid to set up and troubleshoot the Banner Financial Aid module. Using process and business flow analysis, business logic, and data analysis, the employee helps develop data-driven rules for automation of key components in areas such as verification, estimated cost-of-attendance, and aid packaging. Learning and developing a strong knowledge of Banner Financial Aid and understanding the yearly cycle of Financial Aid is key to success in this role. This position serves as the primary backup to the Associate Director of Systems for Financial Aid.
Finally, this position supports and operates in a fast-paced reporting cycle and provides accurate data in an evolving environment. This position supports and accommodates changes in the federal and state regulatory sphere that affect Financial Aid data. Therefore, the employee in this position must be adaptable and able to address and update affected FOCUS reports, Report Caster schedules, and other applications in a timely manner.
Summary of Position Responsibilities

  • Coordinate testing activities related to WebFOCUS, Banner, and ODS upgrades; ensure continuity of reporting tools and downstream Financial Aid processes.
