Principal DevOps Engineer

Inova Information Technology is looking for a dedicated Principal DevOps Engineer to join the Team. This remote role will be full-time day shift working Monday - Friday.

The Principal DevOps Engineer serves as a technical leader and architect for the platform engineering domain, building and scaling core capabilities that enable internal developers, clinical and business applications, and our enterprise marketing stack. This role designs and leads implementation of scalable DevSecOps practices, builds self-service tooling and platform APIs, and enables secure, automated software delivery across hybrid cloud infrastructure. This role shapes the technical direction of our internal developer platform, CI/CD strategy, and reusable infrastructure-as-code patterns.

Principal DevOps Engineer Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, and GitHub Actions.
• Architect and maintain container-based infrastructure (AKS, OpenShift) and GitOps-driven platform services.
• Build and manage reusable infrastructure automation using Terraform, Bicep, Helm, and Kubernetes Operators.
• Define and implement platform APIs and SDKs to accelerate internal development and reduce lead time to deploy.
• Drive Microsoft 365 automation initiatives (Graph API, Teams automation) to support digital workplace enablement.
• Partner with Architecture, Cybersecurity, and Operations to ensure secure, scalable, and compliant platform services.
• Build and maintain internal developer tooling: scaffolding generators, CLI tools, secrets/token automation, and Backstage-style developer portals.
• Guide the delivery of secure mobile app CI/CD pipelines (Fastlane, App Center) with secrets, signing, and telemetry.
• Provide hands-on leadership to mentor junior team members and guide cross-team platform adoption and maturity.
• Maintain SLAs, observability, and auditability across DevOps platforms; proactively identify and resolve system bottlenecks.
• Present technical solutions and platform roadmaps to both technical and executive stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree; or Associate's degree and 2 years relevant professional experience in addition to the minimum experience required; or HS Diploma/GED and 4 years relevant professional experience in addition to the minimum experience required
• Experience: 8+ years of experience in DevOps, CI/CD engineering, or platform engineering roles, including experience in integrating developer enablement tools, building Kubernetes-native platforms with GitOps and Helm and scripting and development experience in Python, Bash, Groovy, PowerShell, or Golang
