Associate/Professor of Clinical Psychiatry Associate/Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and Director of Women's Mental Health Program Hiring Department: Department of Psychiatry Location: 1601 W. Taylor St., Chicago IL 60612 Requisition ID: 1038333 Posting Closing Date: 12/19/2025 Compensation: $225,000-250,000, commensurate with experience Job Summary: The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is seeking to recruit a Director of Women's Mental Health. The Women's Mental Health Program at UIC has an extensive track record of clinical, educational and research excellence. This position includes leadership of the clinical operations of the Women's Mental Health program, including outpatient, inpatient, and consultation and collaborative care. This position includes leadership of the teaching and supervision of residents and medical students in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The Director of Women's Mental Health will lead the Women's Mental Health Track within the residency program, and the PGY-5 Women's Mental Health Fellowship. The departments of Psychiatry and OB-GYN have recently collaborated to open an embedded women's mental health clinic in the maternal-fetal medicine clinic of OB-GYN. Applicants must be a Doctor of Medicine and have completed an ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) accredited residency in Psychiatry. The applicant must possess or be eligible for an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Illinois, an unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license, an unrestricted Controlled Substance license in the state of Illinois and must be Board-certified or Board-eligible in Psychiatry. Experience in Women's Mental Health is required and clinical and/or educational leadership in this area is preferred. UIC Psychiatry is one of the largest departments in the Midwest, with a strong Psychiatry Residency Training Program and several fellowships, including Women's Mental Health, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Addictions, and Behavioral Neurology & Neuropsychiatry. We are also one of the top ranked teaching departments at University of Illinois College of Medicine, the largest medical school in the country, with both preclinical and clinical teaching and mentoring opportunities. Research in women's mental health in the department includes research in menopause, neurosteroids and mood and anxiety throughout the reproductive cycle. Our clinical services focus on diverse and vulnerable patients, serving predominantly minority and economically underserved populations on the South and West Sides of Chicago. Our inpatient psychiatry unit includes a Med-Psych program and is the only unit in Chicago that regularly accommodates pregnant patients with serious mental illnesses. We are also a nationally known basic and clinical research enterprise, ranked first in Chicago and top 20 by NIH funding, with foci in women's mental health, mood and anxiety disorders, late life depression, addictions, and mental health services, with multiple opportunities for collaboration and translation of research towards serving our clinical populations. Benefits and Compensation: The previously determined salary range for this position is $225,000.00 to $250,000.00. We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications. The final salary will be determined through a thorough assessment of these elements. This position is intended to be eligible for benefits.
