Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Comprehensive Oral Health houses several disciplines including, Periodontology, Dental Hygiene, Comprehensive Dentistry, Operative Dentistry/BioMaterials, Prosthodontics, and Endodontics. The Periodontology discipline focuses on the prevention and treatment of gum disease, as well as the management of gum and tissue inflammation resulting from existing dental conditions
Position Summary
The Marchesan Lab is seeking a Research Technician to support the research activities located at the Adams School of Dentistry, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Our lab is focused on interrogating periodontal disease pathogenesis, specifically on how different innate immune players drive gingival breakdown and periodontal tissue destruction.

The Research Technician will work directly with Dr. Marchesan and will provide support to any of her ongoing projects. The applicant must possess previous experience with animal hands-on animal research, good problem solving and organizational skills, be self-driven, and should be able to work directly with students.

Daily activities include:
- Develop research protocols and properly maintain records
- Coordinate and support laboratory and animal research work activities and ensure there is adequate equipment and consumables to support the projects
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Must be able to work with human and mouse samples
* Ability to use and maintain standard lab equipment
* Previous experience with mouse models and tissue handling
* Experience with ordering, invoice tracking, and maintaining laboratory stocks
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Course work in biological sciences or biochemistry, or related field with considerable experience in a related field.
