JOB SUMMARY

The Cyber Security Engineer Co-Op will join our cybersecurity team at Doble Engineering in Marlborough, MA. In this hands-on role, you will work closely with our Cyber Security Manager, actively contributing to key projects that enhance the security of our systems and products. This Co-Op position provides an excellent opportunity to gain in-depth, real-world experience, develop professional skills, and play a vital role in our cybersecurity initiatives. The duration of this Co-Op will be a minimum of 6 months, full-time (40 hours per week) Monday-Friday.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS



  • Collaborate with the cybersecurity team on critical projects, including Doble Security & Compliance Solutions, incident response efforts and security assessments
  • Research and implement security measures to enhance procedures, processes, and systems, addressing specific cybersecurity concerns across the company
  • Conduct details compliance evaluations of standards such as NIST CSF, NERC CIP and IEC 62443 ensuring our practices aligning with industry regulations
  • Perform in-depth security assessments of internal systems, web applications and third-party vendors to identify vulnerabilities
  • Assist in the development enforcement and review of security policies and protocols
  • Stay informed on the latest security threats and innovations, contributing proactive solutions to improve our security posture
  • Take on additional cybersecurity-related tasks and projects as needed, supporting the teams' dynamic and evolving needs


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:



  • Strong interest and foundational knowledge in cybersecurity, incident response, and security best practices
  • Understanding of security fundamentals, common vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top Ten and SANS Top 25) and mitigation strategies
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to peers and management
  • Ability to present findings and recommendations to peers, coworkers, and customers.
  • Self-motivated, eager to learn, and capable of managing tasks in a dynamic, results-driven environment


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (Not Required):



  • Relevant security certifications such as Security+, eJPT, OSCC SEC-100, or equivalent are advantageous

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers, and customers. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of this job. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds. Must use assistance when lifting more than 50 pounds.

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience.
Hourly Pay Range Minimum $26.00 - Midpoint $33.00
