At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a small, high-impact team supporting Blue Origin's test operations, you will be responsible for hands-on maintenance, reliability, and readiness of test stands, labs, and ground support equipment. This role participates in the build, activation, modification, and improvement of fluid/cryogenic and mechanical systems that test high-thrust, high-volume rocket components and integrated flight hardware. With a focus on repairs and reliability, you will utilize all tools at your disposal to ensure the functionality of development and production test stands. Work includes performing corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance on test systems, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical hardware, and providing operations and design feedback to drive improvements across our test site and supported programs.

You will contribute directly to the availability of cryogenic and pneumatic fluid systems, environmental test equipment (vibration tables, thermal chambers), vacuum and HVAC systems, electrical power and control, data acquisition, and supporting utilities across New Glenn, Blue Moon Lunar Lander, New Shepard, BE-4, and advanced development projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Modify, maintain, and improve test stands, labs, and ground support equipment (GSE) supporting integrated test hardware, cryogenic supply efforts and component tests across multiple programs.
  • Plan and communicate assembly steps for complex mechanical and fluid component installations; provide constructive feedback on GSE and test article design.
  • Fabricate, route, and integrate pressurization and propellant tubing; perform tube bending, flaring, fittings, proof and pressure testing.
  • Safely offload propellants; handle hazardous chemicals and highpressure systems in strict accordance with procedures.
  • Perform corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance on test and facility systems to maximize reliability and uptime.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair hardware across structural/mechanical subsystems (rollers, bearings, rams) and fluid systems (process piping, pumps, valves, filters).
  • Calibrate, validate, and maintain process instrumentation (pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, load cells, flow meters).
  • Use CMMS/ERP tools to plan (e.g., Jira, Jules, Maximo), document, and close maintenance work orders; manage spares, consumables, and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Develop and implement methods that streamline work and increase reliability across the test site.
  • Adhere to 5S and FOD control; comply with Blue Origin quality and safety policies and applicable standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 1+ years of experience in fluids testing, processing, or facility support for rocket or jet engines or similar highenergy applications in other fields.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and schematics for fluid routing, instrumentation, and electrical components.
  • Experience handling test, flight, or similar safetycritical hardware.
  • Proficiency with standard mechanical tools and fabrication shop equipment.
  • Familiarity with low and highpressure pneumatic systems and some propellant loading/offloading systems.
  • Operational knowledge of process instrumentation and basic electrical troubleshooting (multimeter use, crimping, connectors).
  • Capability to rapidly shift priorities while maintaining a high sense of urgency in a test environment.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team; clear communication with peers, leadership, and operations customers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years in aerospace facilities/systems testing or vehicle processing for test/flight operations (integration, maintenance or testing).
  • 2+ years as a maintenance technician, service technician, field service engineer, or mechanic in fastpaced environments (power generation, oil/gas, aerospace, automotive, electronics).
  • Experience with heavy equipment or industrial operations and maintenance
  • Working knowledge of cryogenic propellants and support systems (LH2, LOX and LN2); vacuum systems; HVAC; process piping operations/inspection; tubing/pipe fittings; rotating machinery (pumps, air compressors); mechanical fasteners.
