HJF is seeking an Sr. Technology Transfer Specialist to join our efforts in driving cancer research for prevention, screening, treatment, and rehabilitation. As our teammate, you will have an opportunity to grow and collaborate with inspiring researchers, innovators and staff members who are passionate about advancing military medicine. This position is a report within MCCRP and is primarily responsible for being a liaison with the HJF Technology Transfer office to coordinate the execution of research agreements and assist with the commercialization of innovations.

This position will be in support of the Uniformed Services University, Department of Surgery's Murtha Cancer Center Research Program (MCCRP). MCCRP's mission is to improve the diagnosis and multidisciplinary treatment of DoD cancer patients through innovative translational research, evidence-based translational care, and education. Through coordination and alignment with tri-service cancer research initiatives throughout the Military Health System, the MCCRP enhances the readiness of the military, its families, and beneficiaries.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.



  • Setting up and maintaining MCCRP department files and assisting with initiating, organizing, completing department projects.
  • Actively maintaining an understanding of research priorities and developments driven by external environments (DoD, NIH, industry, etc.).
  • Participating in USU research activities, e.g., seminars, symposia and Research Day events, interfacing with USU staff to discuss research developments.
  • Working with researchers to develop and submit invention disclosures to the HJF Technology Transfer office.
  • Responsible for gathering all information necessary to complete universal agreement request forms (UAF) for submission to the HJF Technology Transfer office. With assistance from you, their staff will draft, negotiate and execute Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs), Data Sharing Agreements (DSA), Nondisclosure Agreements (NDAs), and Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs).
  • Entering requests and coordination of Inter-Agency Agreements (IAAs), which establish agreement to transfer funds from USU to another Government Agency in support of MCCRP research.
  • Gathering information and completing DHA Data Sharing Agreement Applications (DSAA).
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role. Additional duties based on the needs of MCCRP and the HJF Technology Transfer office.


Education and Experience



  • Master's Degree required, Doctorate preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience required


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Superior organizational skills, exacting attention to detail, and high-quality work standards required.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and ability to interact creatively and harmoniously with coworkers and inventors essential.
  • Ability to work independently, experience with database software and internet searching, demonstrated skills in handling multiple tasks simultaneously, and ability to complete projects in a timely manner are also required.
  • Technical aptitude and experience understanding complex biological and medical technologies preferred.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Possess sound decision-making skills and balanced judgment, with the flexibility of thought and style needed to maximize interactions with military research and commercialization stakeholders.
  • Dependable team member and can work well within a dynamic, results-oriented group.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1 Public Trust Clearance.


Work Environment



  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.


Compensation



  • The annual salary range for this position is $73,800-$100,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
