RF TEST LAB SPECIALIST (SILICON ENGINEERING)

At SpaceX we're leveraging our experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world's most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink is the world's largest satellite constellation and is providing fast, reliable internet to millions of users worldwide. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system - thousands of satellites, consumer receivers that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing, and the software that brings it all together. We've only begun to scratch the surface of Starlink's potential global impact and are looking for best-in-class employees to help maximize Starlink's utility for communities and businesses around the globe.

As the RF Lab Specialist, you will be responsible for the setup, development, and day-to-day operations of SpaceX's Starlink RFIC development lab. You will ensure that the lab is always fully capable of quickly performing measurements on the RFICs used on satellites, ground stations, and user products. You will also support test development by performing hardware reworks, test setup maintenance, maintaining lab inventory, setup up test configurations, and performing measurements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Manage and coordinate usage of RF test equipment and shared lab resources (such as environmental test chambers) across multiple buildings at the same site
  • Ensure that all test equipment maintains active calibration status
  • Support design engineers by enforcing lab organization, cleanliness, ESD-safe handling practices, and restocking commonly-used components
  • Set up, tear down, reconfigure, calibrate, validate, and document specialized RF test benches given general direction and guidance
  • Drive physical changes to the lab work areas through facility requests from electrical, mechanical, and networking contractors
  • Assemble and rework printed circuit boards as needed
  • Perform electromechanical assembly of specialized test racks and test shelves
  • Manage shipping/receiving logistics of delicate test equipment and test articles
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on lab equipment
  • Maintain up-to-date CAD drawings of the lab areas
  • Manage daily and weekly cleanroom operations; interface with building information systems such as particle counters, pressure sensors, and power monitors


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High school degree or equivalency certificate
  • 2+ years of professional experience in a hands-on testing and/or manufacturing environment, OR a bachelor's degree in an engineering, math or science discipline


PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Ability to solder 0201 components under a microscope
  • Understanding of technical documentation, engineering drawings, and schematics
  • Computer and analytical skills including proficiency in spreadsheets, databases, shop floor management software (ERP), and related programs
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience fabricating and repairing cable harnesses including: soldering, crimping, and assembling connectors
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and navigating/manipulate files
  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to work directly with the hardware on the floor while being comfortable stooping, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing, and standing on lifts, ladders, etc.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as needed


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Test Specialist/Level 1: $32.00 - $40.00/hour
Test Specialist/Level 2: $36.00 - $45.00/hour
Test Specialist/Level 3: $40.00 - $50.00/hour

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. Company shuttles are offered to employees for roundtrip travel from select Seattle locations to the SpaceX Redmond office Monday to Friday
