Primary Purpose of the Organization:

Primary Purpose of the Position:
The position serves as the key administrative support in the Office of the Associate Dean of the School of Nursing. primary purpose of this position is to provide budget and administrative support to the Associate Dean and the School of Nursing as whole. The School of Nursing is comprised of 3 unique programs (prelicensure, RN- BSN, and MSN). This position serves as internal and external public contact for the School of Nursing and requires contact with the chairs, staff, faculty, students, and other university personnel. Work ranges from budget and accounting support assignments to performance of administrative duties involving decision making and judgment. This position performs functions of the School of Nursing Associate Dean's Office to include personnel administration, office coordination, and budget management and monitoring. Considering the high volume of work and wide range of matters that are handled in the office of the Associate Dean and School of Nursing, this position requires a highly skilled, experienced, trustworthy, and knowledgeable staff member. She/he will be expected to act on behalf of the Associate Dean concerning routine office operations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to overseeing department full time faculty, and adjunct contracts. In this role, employee may supervise work study students
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Knowledge skills and abilities:
Verbal Communication-Responds to questions/issues that deviate from standard operating procedures by determining and consulting appropriate resources such as policies, manuals or other staff. Responds to requests for program and procedural information. Contacts service recipients, vendors, or clients to provide or obtain information. Schedules and coordinates appointments, meetings and events.

Written Communication-Composes written communication with guidance using standard formats, Composes correspondence involving program or operational procedures independently from general instructions or brief summaries.

Work Coordination-Plans and facilitates the support activities of an office or work unit; coordinates with other to complete tasks.

Problem Solving-Assesses and may resolve unprecedented problems that require research and review of policy and procedures. Applies judgment for the problem resolutions based on delegated authority from supervisor.

Program Knowledge-Understands programs and services to apply this knowledge in problem solving and responding to most questions and inquiries. Uses program knowledge to interface with other offices or departments.

Information and Records Administration-Records, complies and summarizes data using established format. Complies and organizes information from different sources to develop data and reports.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or
  • Extensive work experience in administrative support role
