Architect II

Location: Chicago, IL

Salary Range: $90,126.00 to $113,200.00 per year

Workplace Type: Applicants may be considered for hybrid telework options,

based on assessment of job responsibilities, access to internet/technology, and applicant suitability.

SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:




  • Work from the designs of others under supervision.
  • Perform routine and limited assignments using prescribed methods.
  • Accurately model the specified work or portion of the work using Building Information Modeling (BIM) Software, or other software or tools appropriate to the situation.
  • Exercise good judgement by identifying potential problems and preparing solutions for review by the Project Lead Architect.
  • Under the supervision of the Project Lead Architect, prepare alternative solutions related to functional relationships among building elements, relative efficiency of alternative layout options, massing and visual assessment of alternate building organizational concepts and prepare visual presentations and renderings of proposed solutions for presentation to clients.
  • Under the supervision of the Project Lead Architect, prepare alternative solutions related to technical relationships between building elements or systems, such as floor/wall, roof/wall, grade/foundations, and others for review by the Project Lead.
  • Prepare the alternate solutions in problem solving, describe the intended solutions to the supervisor-identifying the pros and cons of the proposed solutions to facilitate the Project Lead's ability to make a decision or to request for additional studies or research.
  • Research building materials, assemblies, and resources to identify appropriateness for an intended use.
  • Research includes product research, availability and suitability for use, sustainability, thermal or moisture resistance properties, and fire resistance ratings among others.
  • In conjunction with Project Lead Architect, may confirm that selected materials meet or exceed code or client required criteria.
  • Research zoning and building code requirements, prepare reports summarizing the requirements for the building or a portion of the building, such as a fire exit stair.
  • Prepare solutions incorporating the requirements for review by the Project Lead Architect.
  • Utilize the following software applications: Building Information Modeling Software, AutoCAD, Sketchup, Rhino, Grasshopper, Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and others, and Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel.
  • Applicants may be considered for hybrid telework options, based on assessment of job responsibilities, access to internet/technology, and applicant suitability.


Qualifies for company Employee Referral Program

REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related and (4) four years' experience in job offered or relevant architecture-related occupation. In lieu will accept a Master's degree in Architecture or related plus + 2 years of experience in job offered or relevant architecture-related occupation.

Must have the following:

1) Extensive working knowledge of 3D design software such as Revit, Rhino, 3DS Max, Vray and Grasshopper as well as the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)

(2) Superior design skills related to the design of large and complex buildings, including mixed-use, educational, commercial, and/or mission critical facilities.

(3) Working knowledge of US based codes, such as the current International Building Code, and standards related to accessibility and sustainabilty such as ADA, LEED.

(4) Architectural license
