Job Description
General Purpose Directs the day-to-day activities and staff of Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech and Language Pathology and Cardiopulmonary Rehab. Essential Duties

- Directs the day-to-day activities. Duties include hiring, training, counseling, evaluating staff performance, and when necessary, disciplining and/or terminating staff. Also responsible for preparing daily work schedule, assuring adequate staff coverage and processing departmental payroll.
- Develops and implements departmental objectives, policies, procedures and standards; revises departmental work systems and procedures as necessary to improve the efficiency and productivity of the department.
- Prepares and administers departmental budget(s); assures expenditures are within the approved budget(s).
- Monitors the quality of AL!VE clinical services provided and assures departmental compliance with related accrediting and regulatory standards and hospital policies; initiates corrective action as necessary.
- Works cooperatively and maintains communication with physicians, other departments and external parties to facilitate quality patient care, resolve problems and exchange information.
- Establishes relationships with new physicians and fosters existing relationships with physicians to improve patient outcomes, increase referrals and enhance patient satisfaction scores.
- Addresses and handles patient, family and caregiver concerns related to AL!VE clinical services.
- Performs staffing as needed.
- Assumes responsibility for implementation and maintenance of the applicable computer systems as it relates to training departmental staff in usage of the computer system and related updates.
- Manages relationship and contract for athletic training services and pool rental provided to Charlotte High School.
- Oversees compliance of departmental staff with applicable certification and licensure training-related requirements.
- Directs the department's student intern/volunteer programs.
- Attends various internal and external meetings relating to assigned function(s); performs related tasks as required.
- Prepares departmental documents and reports as required.
- Facilitates and/or attends staff meetings and in-service programs.
- Supports and serves as a role model for our mission, vision, values, and customer service initiatives. Adheres to the organization's policies & procedures, and compliance guidelines.
Job Requirements
| General Requirements |
* Valid State of Michigan Nursing, Physical Therapist, or Occupational Therapist license * BLS certification |
| Work Experience |
* Minimum of four years of nursing, physical or occupational therapy experience * Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience |
| Education |
* Master's degree from a Rehabilitation related clinical program (OT or PT) or Bachelors in Nursing. |
| Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
* Knowledge of accrediting and regulatory standards and hospital policies related to the provision of rehabilitation services including HIPPA confidentiality and TJC mandates * Computer skills necessary to administer assigned functions of the computer systems * Written skills necessary to prepare required documentation * Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate, orally and in written form, with patients, families, physicians, health care professionals, and insurance companies in the exchange of information. The incumbent is also required to handle problem situations in a tactful, courteous and respectful manner * Demonstrated supervisory skills to effectively manage the daily operations and administration of assigned function(s) * Analytical ability to develop departmental policies, procedures and work systems * Mental ability to adapt and respond to multiple priorities and demands, deal with the concerns of patients and their families, and handle pressures related to problem situations * Physical ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time, transfer/lift/ reposition patients, assist patients with exercises, and properly operate rehabilitation equipment/devices * Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job |
