POSITION SPECIFICS Penn State World Campus Student Affairs is in search of a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of online learning environments, an ability to build meaningful partnerships, and a passion for helping all students-especially those who may encounter unique obstacles-prepare for career success as our Associate Director of Career Services. The Associate Director of Career Services will play a key leadership role in designing, implementing, and managing career development initiatives tailored to the unique needs of online learners in a higher education environment. This position will lead strategic initiatives and manage the daily operations of our virtual Career Services unit, supporting more than 19,000 online learners at World Campus. This position will focus on leading and ensuring high-quality delivery of virtual career counseling/coaching, building strong employer partnerships, and expanding career readiness opportunities-particularly for students who may face additional barriers to career success, such as first-generation, military/veteran, and low-income learners. The Associate Director will collaborate with academic departments, faculty, alumni, and other external partners to integrate career services into the online student experience and ensure scalable, accessible support. The Associate Director will bring energy, vision, and a collaborative spirit to a role that blends direct student support, employer engagement, and team leadership. This work is grounded in the belief that every student should have access to the tools, resources, and connections needed to thrive in their career journey. Additional Position Information: Work will be primarily performed remotelywith some monthly in-person meetings and/or student events that will require travel to University Park, PA.
