Summary:
This position will support category management and merchandising activity across Sunoco LP. It will consolidate management of all categories to allow for total strategic alignment. Support the marketing plan for all merchandise categories. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and Execute Strategic Marketing Plan to maximum sales, revenue for Sunoco, LP convenience stores and franchise royalty at APlus convenience stores.
- Supports the development of promotional calendar and planner, coordinating set up of marketing and operational support of programs.
- Manages rebate and promotional allowance process through collection of data and invoicing of vendors.
- Analyzes internal and external data to track progress of initiatives and programming to determine opportunities to improve sales and profitability.
- Manages the vendor interaction strategies and tactics that drive new business.
- Determines supplier viability and has final product/vendor approval
- Negotiates national contracts which leverage the entire purchasing power of Sunoco LP and APlus convenience store franchisees.
- Negotiates lowest product costs, allowance structure and bill-backs.
- Sources new suppliers/products.
- Conducts Annual Business Reviews with all current suppliers
- Manage the business relationships between marketing and operations and the vendor community to facilitate maximum sales and margin potential and product offer to our consumers.
- Conduct sales presentations to management, operation groups, franchisees and vendors to gain buy-in and ensure execution.
- Monitors industry trends including technology, best practices and new products and develops plans for implementation
- Analyzes syndicated and internal scan data to evaluate customer trends and develop strategic response
- Directs development and maintenance of a comprehensive system of planograms/equipment layouts for all Sunoco, LP locations annually using internal data to maximize sales, customer satisfaction and profitability for all coops and franchisees
- Reviews all new item introductions to determine suitability for inclusion in planograms while managing product unit rationalization to maximize sales, margin and minimize inventory holding costs.
- Supports new APlus loyalty program and Retail promotional schedule and planners
- Manages/Approves all promotional materials
- Directs the development of all private label merchandise.
Requirements: Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
- BS Marketing/Business Administration with 5+ years' experience.
- Strong working knowledge of promotional concepts, procurement, contracts, consumer data and inventory management.
- Proven negotiating skills, and ability to use data and statistics in decision-making.
- Some travel is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5-7 years retail combined merchandising and operations experience in retail environment.
- Accounting and finance background; attention to details; ability to understand and use technology; ability to work with sales data and programs; education background in these areas a plus.

- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
