Position Summary:
The Biophotonics and Bioimaging Laboratory (https://research.njit.edu/belfieldgroup/) in the Department of Chemistry and Environmental Science and the Jordan Hu College of Science and Liberal Arts at New Jersey Institute of Technology invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to contribute to our ongoing, and develop new, projects in fluorescence spectroscopy, multi-photon fluorescence imaging, and ultrafast laser applications.
Essential Functions:
-Conduct independent research in fluorescence spectroscopy, multi-photon fluorescence imaging, and laser-based photochemical kinetic studies.
-Operate and maintain ultrafast laser and associated microscopy systems and experimental setups.
-Analyze and interpret experimental data and prepare results for publication in peer reviewed journals.
-Present research findings at national and international conferences.
-Train and mentor graduate and undergraduate students in the use of fluorescence spectroscopy, multi-photon fluorescence imaging, photochemical kinetics, and ultrafast laser techniques.
-Contribute to grant proposal writing and project development.
-Collaborate with other research groups within the department and external institutions.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
-Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
-Demonstrated expertise in fluorescence spectroscopy and multi-photon fluorescence imaging.
-Extensive experience with ultrafast lasers and their applications.
-Strong background in laser-based photochemical kinetic studies.
-Proven ability to design, conduct, and interpret complex experiments.
-Excellent written and oral communication skills.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
-Prior experience in student training and mentorship is highly desirable.
-At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Salary Information:
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the negotiated starting annual salary for this position is $62,232.00 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
