Job Description

The Assistant Controller will support the Controller in managing the accounting operations of the Bank, owning the monthly closing process, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements (SEC, SOX, FDIC), and the efficient operation of internal controls. This is a key leadership role, with direct reports, offering visibility with senior management and an opportunity to influence financial strategy, reporting, and operational efficiency at a growing institution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Oversee the monthly close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
  • Support SOX compliance efforts, including documentation, testing, and remediation of internal controls.
  • Manage regulatory reporting, including FFIEC Call Reports, FR Y-9, and other Federal Reserve and FDIC filings.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and examiners during audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Prepare and/or review monthly general ledger transactions.
  • Initiate/Verify Wire Transfers for internal bank wires
  • Prepare and file tax-related documents on behalf of the Bank
  • Supervise and mentor Accounting/Finance staff, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate across departments to support the Bank.
  • Implement and maintain accounting systems, policies, and procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance.
  • Monitor emerging accounting standards and regulatory updates relevant to banking institutions and public companies.Review Accounts Payable for accuracy.
  • Maintain workflow software for completion of closing tasks and reconciliations.
  • Conduct access review of software for direct reports
  • Perform additional duties as requested, needed or assigned

Experience and Skills

JOB REQUIREMENTS



  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, bank regulatory reporting, and internal control frameworks (COSO).
  • Experience working with publicly-traded companies, ideally in a community banking environment.
  • Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., Prologue, FloQast, Sharepoint); advanced Excel skills required.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Gather and analyze information skillfully
  • Collaborative approach to work and focus on continuous improvement
  • Develop strategies to achieve organizational goals
  • Develop realistic action plans

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE



  • Minimum 5 - 7 years of experience in public accounting, banking or a publicly traded company
  • General business and financial knowledge
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting principles
  • Must have computer skills and work proficiently with Microsoft Office
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • CPA Preferred

Pay Range: $75,247.15 - $105,346.01


The pay range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the pay range for this job at the time of posting.


Actual pay may vary based on experience, skills, and market factors; additional compensation may apply.
