Summary: Under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Assurance Lead performs quality assurance testing and laboratory functions for the facility while assisting with training and support for the Quality team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Understands production processes and advocate procedures to ensure that safe, quality products are produced
- Knowledge of federal, state, and customer requirements
- Conduct environmental sampling and maintaining spreadsheets
- Effectively train employees on quality procedures as necessary
- Perform Hold and Release procedure as needed
- Perform internal audits and facility verifications
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with production supervisors and leads to effectively solve problems in a timely manner
- Support CCP training, verification, and calibration
- Conduct investigations and follow up on internal quality issues
- Cross-train to be back up for Quality Supervisor as needed
- Participate in audits and inspections.
- Manage product retain and shelf-life programs
- Train and mentor Quality staff in job tasks and procedures
- Assist with New Item Set Up
- Assist with reviewing labels and supplier documentation
- Maintain extensive product knowledge
- Revise and review facility procedures and documents
- Cover vacations for QA Team requiring flexibility of schedule working off shifts
Education/Experience:
Associate degree in science related field; or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two years or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in cheese processing, food manufacturing, or QA preferred
Experience in QA, machine operation, or related role a plus
Skills & Competencies:
Knowledge of GMP, hygiene, HACCP, and quality principles
Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external teams
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Ability to read and interpret product specifications, lab manuals, and test results
Ability to lift/move up to 40 pounds occasionally
