Job Overview

The mid-level Graphic Designer Specialist collaborates with the creative team and internal marketing agency to produce communications that reflect the mission, vision and personality of the brand. This role involves designing and producing a variety of print and digital materials, including ads, direct mail, web graphics, and corporate identity pieces. Requires a strong command of design principles, typography, layout, and adaptability to evolving creative formats. The Graphic Designer Specialist reports to the Creative Director and takes direction from senior designers and art directors in partnership with marketing strategists.

Job Status: Full-time, Hybrid (on-site Tuesday and Wednesday)

Shift: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm. Weekends or holidays may be required per department needs

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Resolves complex design, communication and technical issues and challenges.

  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of brand goals and approach assignments strategically.
  • Establishes and maintains a high quality of design and execution from concept to completion.
  • Conceptualizes, plans and designs creative projects according to the creative brief, project specifications and marketing and communication goals.
  • Promotes continual creative improvement and actively contributes to a culture of innovation, excellence, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Demonstrates strong visual aesthetic and creative thinking abilities
  • Art directs photo and video shoots, pulls inspiration, research and developing ideas. Clearly communicates with talent and crew and ensures the goals of the assignment are met.
  • Works independently as well as collaboratively with seasoned creative and marketing teams.
  • Designs and produces a range of marketing materials such as brochures, posters, website graphics, social media posts, email campaigns, advertisements and apparel in alignment with brand standards.
  • Designs high-quality graphics and layouts based on assignment goals and requirements and incorporates feedback from senior designers.
  • Collaborates with other creative roles (designers, copywriters, photographers/videographers, developers) in developing communication concepts that reflect the unique mission and value of Children's Colorado to our diverse audience segments.
  • Seeks to ensure subject matter understanding.
  • Interacts with internal clients; work closely with marketing, service lines and business development teams to create and implement design solutions and obtain input and approval.
  • Follows creative workflow from concept to production.
  • Manages own project workload while coordinating with project management teams on schedules, requirements, goals and assignments as needed.
  • Helps to ensure consistency and successful representation of the Children's Colorado brand across all channels, through knowledge of brand standards, design templates and systems architecture.

Scope & Level

  • Guidelines: Guidelines are generally numerous, well established, and directly applicable to the work assignment. Work assignment and desired results are explained by general oral or written instructions.

  • Complexity: Falls between the entry and full performance/senior level. Duties assigned are generally repetitive and restricted in scope but may be of substantial intricacy. Employee primarily applies standardized practices.

  • Decision Making: Decisions or recommendations on non-standardized situations are limited to relating organizational policies to specific cases. Brings non routine issues to supervisor. Problems that are not covered by guidelines or that are without precedent are taken up with the supervisor.

  • Communications: Contacts with team members, clients or the public where explanatory or interpretive information is exchanged, gathered, or presented and some degree of discretion and judgment are required within the parameters of the job function.

  • Supervision Received: Under normal supervision, within a standardized work situation, the employee performs duties common to the line of work without close supervision or detailed instruction. Work product is subject to continual review.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degrees
    • Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field.
  • Experience
    • Two (2) years experience in agency or corporate marketing environment
  • Equivalency
    • Four (4) years of experience, beyond stated requirements, may substitute for bachelor's degree

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $61,473.39 to $92,210.08
