At CESO, a Sr Engineer is responsible for mechanical discipline development and ensuring internal colleague and external client satisfaction with the discipline team(s) through performing a wide variety of technical assignments so discipline team(s) deliver high quality, profitable projects. This position will typically report to the Practice Area Leader.
Primary Responsibilities
- Proactively mentor and coach junior staff, senior team members and other engineers across teams or practices to reach personal and professional aspirations, and provide technical oversight and guidance (document production, submittal review, etc.).
- Participate in client, company, and industry events to build and maintain professional relationships.
- Help Lead Engineers and Team Leads lead projects and programs from concept through completion and take responsibility for the discipline work quality, productivity, and actions.
- Create, maintain, and develop strong and positive client relationships through consistent communication and facilitating great project delivery.
- Develop and maintain technical design standards.
- Oversee the quality review process, regularly review in-progress work, facilitate drawing preparation and ensure work accuracy and neatness.
- Attend and participate in owner, client, or architect meetings as needed and visit project sites to verify existing conditions and/or observe construction progress.
- Consistently maintain advanced knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, AEC industry codes and standards, relating to a broad range of practices, projects or program types through attending internal/external trainings, of self-study.
- Research local, state, and federal regulations and adapt engineering information, codes, and standards into project designs and communicate to team(s).
- Supervising two or more direct reports is a key responsibility of this job.
- Independently performs non-manual managerial work under minimal supervision, exercising discretion and independent judgment in overseeing staff operations, including making recommendations regarding hiring, promotion, disciplinary actions, and terminations of direct reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university and 15 or more years of relevant experience is required; Master's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering, or similar discipline, can substitute up to 1 year of work experience.
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, AEC industry, codes and standards is required.
- Experiencing creating and maintaining engineering standards and tools is required.
- Experience driving organic growth through client focused designer services is required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license certified by the State of California under Cal. Code Regs. tit. 8, * 11040, subd. 3(a) is required.
- Computer skills necessary to enter daily timesheet data and use Microsoft Outlook for email correspondence.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Deltek, Autodesk Revit, Carrier HAP, BlueBeam Revu, and other applicable design software.
