Position Description

Designs, implements and manages an assigned program. Typical duties can include but are not limited to: Identify funding opportunities, conduct program assessments, prepare program reports, oversee and manage program marketing and communications, manage program databases, supervise program staff, plan research activities, coordinate program events, participate in strategic planning, manage program files, establish program standards and objectives, direct logistical activities to promote the success of programs, develop and implement project timelines and ensures deadlines are met, oversee program budget, ensure goals and objectives of grants are met, assists in proposal writing, comply and analyze program statistics.

Major/Essential Functions

Content Design and Message Development (60%)

  • Design and produce collateral and advertisements for Texas Tech University Recreation.
  • Create print publications, digital advertisements, social media graphics, and multimedia design assets.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of work, including producing proof copies for review and revising materials according to feedback.
  • Utilize university-approved branding guidelines in all projects.
Communication Coordination (20%)
  • Work under direct supervision of the associate director of marketing to create, maintain, and expand marketing and communication campaigns.
  • Participate in creative brief meetings, brainstorming sessions, and critiques, bringing strong ideas and concepts to discussions.
  • Communicates project status updates to stakeholders and monitors milestones.
  • Assigns communication tasks to appropriate team members, ensuring involvement of all necessary stakeholders.
Supervision (20%)
  • Directly supervises marketing and communications student assistants.
  • Provides training, performance feedback, and scheduling support to ensure effective execution of tasks.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign or other design programs.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four years of experience developing or managing programs or projects. Additional job related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience designing for print and digital platforms.
  • Experience working with print and design vendors.

Pay Statement

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.
