The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Department of Medicine, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to work in a very busy Echocardiography practice within the Division of Cardiology at the One.

Site Location: 1111 Westchester Ave.; White Plains, NY

Responsibilities



  • Provide direct patient care and be responsible for the performance of echo stress testing at practices located in Westchester.
  • Perform complete patient history and physical, review laboratory tests, start IV access, administer medications and contrast agents for stress testing under a physician's supervision.
  • Counsel and educate patients and their caregivers on disease processes and care management.
  • Document all patient/caregiver encounters in the Epic EMR.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Master's degree in Nursing or equivalent combination of education and experience, along with one to two years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current New York State (NYS) NP license (or proof of application) and RN license.
  • NP board certification or ANCC Board Certification in Acute Care.
  • Must be eligible for AHA BCLS.
  • Must be eligible for a DEA.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Previous NP experience a plus.
  • Experience in cardiology a plus.
  • Familiarity with CUIMC/NYP.


Other Requirements



  • Must be able to work a 5-day work week.
  • Excellent clinical, interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills required.
  • Familiarity and proficiency with computer-based programs such as electronic medical records systems, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel.
  • Participation in Medical Surveillance required:

    • Contact with patients and/or human research subjects
    • Wear N-95 respirator


  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements.
