About The Role

The Security Services Officer provides institutional security for the art as well as educates visitors about security protocols, exhibitions, and programs. Considerable independent judgment and action are exercised within established guidelines. This includes monitoring the galleries to prevent loss or damage due to theft, vandalism, fire, etc. The Security Services Officer will observe and report any suspicious individuals or activities and provide visitors and staff with building evacuation assistance as necessary.

Work Schedule:

Hours of work can include daytime hours between Tuesday - Friday and either Saturday or Sunday to meet staffing and/or event needs. This is a part-time position, up to 29 hours weekly.

The position works at various locations depending on the schedule. This position must be able to commute between locations if needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Monitor artwork in galleries, ensuring established security and safety guidelines.
  • Follow security department procedures and practices.
  • Respond to real-time security alarms and critical incidents.
  • Explain the Arts Center rules and guidelines to visitors.
  • Enforce security protocols, emergency procedures, and institutional regulations regarding the proper use and evacuation of the facility to visitors and third-party groups.
  • Report fires, acts of vandalism, theft, illegal entry, and any other unauthorized or irregular activity to a supervisor and prepare routine security incident reports as required.
  • Assist with Arts Center's open/close procedures.



What Sets You Apart

Candidates with prior security services, closed-circuit television footage monitoring, emergency planning, and investigation experience are encouraged to apply. This is an entry-level security office position. We train those who are eager to learn!

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or GED
  • 6 months of customer service experience
  • Prior security experience is a plus. This is an entry-level position - we train those who are eager to learn!
  • A valid Wisconsin Driver's License is required
  • Ability to obtain/maintain First Aid, CPR, AED, and ALICE certifications
  • Bonus points if you have previous art/museum experience
