SUMMARY

The lead provides oversight and direction to assigned staff. Installs, inspects, maintains, and repairs: electrical systems; apparatus; electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment.

* General Job Knowledge - Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, procedures, use of equipment and Hospital and departmental policies necessary for job performance

* Accounts for work daily using the P.O.M. computerized system.

* Installs new electrical wiring and switch gears, fuses, lighting fixtures, heating devices, motors, and hospital or electrical apparatus. Changes existing locations and conditions, conforming to national and local electrical codes and local licensing practices.

* Lubricates motors; inspects and repairs all electrical equipment, devices, and apparatus. Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.

* May perform lamp maintenance under group lamp replacement program.

* Observes all safety regulations and practices.

* Keeps records of time and materials expended per job as required.

* May requisition material and supplies from maintenance stores for previously authorized work orders.

* May repair, maintain, or build certain laboratory equipment.

* Installs new electrical equipment such as air conditioners, refrigeration units, laundry machines, heating controls, and allied equipment

* May change electrical apparatus from AC to DC, or vice versa, upon request.

* Maintains knowledge of current code requirements, changes in procedures, etc. Keeps abreast of craft improvements and advances through trade journals, texts, and periodicals.

* May have access to secured and highly sensitive areas (med rooms, pharmacy) for required job functions.

* Completes annual competency on Medication Room Safety & Security.

* Provides training and support to assigned staff.

* Assigns, schedules, and monitors work performed by Carpenters, Painters, and Electricians, ensuring quality and efficiency.

* Oversees project completion, ensuring work is performed accurately, safely, and within established timelines.

* Ensures proper operation and maintenance of critical hospital systems, including Medical Gas, Fire Alarm, Nurse Call, and Tube Systems. LEAD ELECTRICIAN (LICENSED) JOB

DESCRIPTION

* Manages preventive maintenance and operation of electrical equipment to ensure reliability and compliance with standards. * Partners with the Manager to provide department orientation, training, and performance evaluations for staff. * Monitors stockroom inventory and reports supply needs to the Manager in a timely manner. * Maintains cleanliness and safety of mechanical spaces, including electrical closets, to meet regulatory and organizational standards. * Performs routine calculations to support cost-effective repair and maintenance of equipment. * Oversees preventive maintenance activities, including generator testing, medical gas inspections, and electrical distribution checks. * Coordinates with contractors during utility shutdowns, ensuring critical hospital operations remain unaffected; manages system controls during such events. * Enforces all operating and safety regulations to protect plant equipment, property, and personnel. * Provides recommendations to the Manager for timely and cost-effective solutions to operational challenges. * May perform additional duties as necessary. * Takes emergency call on a rotating basis.

QUALIFICATIONS Education: Requires high school diploma or GED, or equivalent knowledge gained in a combination of education and experience. Candidate must have completed an accredited trade school course of study or a trade apprenticeship program in electrical wiring and the applications of electricity and electrical equipment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of English required. Requires math, reading, adaptability, logic, driving, and typing/word processing. Requires ability to operate specialized equipment: i.e., power tools, portable meters, emergency generators. Required Licensure, Certification, On-going Training:

Must have an Electrician Journeyman license.

Work Experience: 5 to 7 years' experience in the construction, installation, and maintenance of electrical facilities is necessary. Machines, Tools, Equipment: Specialized equipment: i.e., power tools, portable meters, emergency generators.

Shift: 7:00am-3:30pm M-F. Must be available for emergency calls and prepared to come to work when needed. On call.

Salary Range: Minimum 35.84/hour - Maximum 59.14/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
