Journeyman Service Electrician - Houston, TX

The Journeyman Service Electrician is responsible for performing skilled electrical work in the installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of electrical systems in commercial and industrial environments. This role requires strong troubleshooting abilities, a commitment to safety, and the ability to provide excellent customer service while working independently or as part of a team.

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, motors, controls, and related equipment.

• Troubleshoot electrical issues using proper testing devices and methods.

• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on electrical systems and components.

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.

• Ensure all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and company safety standards.

• Diagnose malfunctioning systems and components to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

• Work with clients, contractors, and other trades to coordinate repairs and installations.

• Complete accurate service reports, work orders, and documentation in a timely manner.

• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.

• Mentor apprentices and support their on-the-job training and skill development.

• Valid State of Texas Journeyman Electrician License (required).

• Minimum 4 years of commercial electrical experience.

• Strong knowledge of the NEC and electrical safety practices.

• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics.

• Experience with electrical testing equipment (multimeters, meggers, etc.).

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Good communication and customer service skills.

• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Work from ladders, scaffolds, and lifts at various heights.

• Stand, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.

• Work indoors and outdoors in a variety of conditions.

• Experience in commercial service environments (schools, hospitals, data centers, etc.).

• Low-voltage, High-voltage, controls, or lighting retrofit experience.

• OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
