Interstates is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Communications Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing internal communications, supporting community initiatives, and keeping our employees and teams connected. Key Responsibilities:



  • Draft, edit, and format written and presentation materials to support internal communications, ensuring consistency with company voice and brand standards.
  • Coordinate company meetings and develop supporting materials, including logistics, agendas, slides, and follow-up communication.
  • Manage the internal newsletter process and maintain the intranet, ensuring information is current, engaging, and aligned with company priorities.
  • Maintain and evolve internal communication tools and company-wide materials (e.g., intranet, digital signage, Teams, etc.).
  • Support communication campaigns that promote connection, safety, and culture across the organization.
  • Partner with internal teams (HR, IT, Safety, Foundation, etc.) to align messages, share stories, and support company-wide initiatives.
  • Lead the employee activities committee, coordinating planning and execution of employee engagement events and activities.
  • Manage sponsorship requests and coordinate employee participation in local chamber meetings and community events, leveraging these opportunities to strengthen the Interstates brand.
  • Track communication timelines, metrics, and feedback to evaluate effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with other marketing and communication initiatives as assigned.



Essential Skills & Experience



  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to clarity, tone, and detail.
  • Excellent organizational and project coordination abilities with a focus on follow-through.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate across departments.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional projects is a plus.
  • Strong sense of initiative, curiosity, and continuous improvement mindset toward communication tools and processes.


Education & Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, HR, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Or Associate's degree with 2-4 years of relevant work experience.


Travel:Travel will be minimal for this position under 10% per year. Position is in person located in Sioux Center, IA or Sioux Falls, SD.
