Job Overview

The High-Level Disinfection (HLD) and Quality Compliance Manager leads the system-wide program for instrument sterilization and high-level disinfection across CERD and CSPD. The role sets policy, oversees audits and corrective actions, and keeps the organization survey ready in alignment with applicable standards and manufacturer IFUs (AAMI, AORN, CDC, The Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, FDA). The manager partners with Infection Prevention, Nursing, Facilities, and Biomed to standardize safe reprocessing of reusable instruments and flexible and rigid endoscopes. Supervises staff and oversees onboarding, annual competencies, and targeted retraining and revalidation across sites.

Department: Sterile Processing - Anschutz Location (Aurora) - Will also cover all sites
Job Status: Fulltime - 80 hours per pay period
Shift: 8am - 4pm

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Own enterprise policies/SOPs for sterilization and high-level disinfection; approve site procedures for alignment.

  • Design and govern the audit and compliance program; conduct audits, issue findings, and drive corrective actions to closure.

  • Provide and monitor compliance with policies and regulatory agency standards (The Joint Commission, CDC, OSHA, CMS, FDA, AORN, AAMI) and ensure continual accreditation readiness for sterilization and HLD; support and represent the organization during regulatory/accreditation visits as the system subject-matter expert.

  • Lead and develop the HLD/Quality Compliance team; hire, onboard, coach, set goals, conduct evaluations, and manage workforce planning.

  • Provide functional oversight to CSPD/CERD site leaders; standardize practices across sites and hold teams accountable for performance and compliance.

  • Analyze and report enterprise KPIs and trends to leadership; lead root-cause analyses and drive continuous-improvement initiatives.

  • Lead enterprise education and competency programs with CSPD/CERD educators; oversee onboarding, annual competencies, remediation, and instructor development.

  • Develop and execute enterprise business-continuity and service-interruption plans; coordinate cross-site load balancing and communications.

  • Partner with Facilities, Maintenance, Planning, and Biomed to influence CSPD/CERD design/renovations and validate equipment selection against IFUs and environmental requirements.

  • Design, monitor, and optimize staffing models, throughput, quality, and productivity; adjust workflows based on demand and regulatory changes.

  • Collaborate with Nursing and Infection Prevention & Epidemiology; establish and monitor service-level agreements and allocate/redirect reprocessing work appropriately.

  • Manage program budgets (education, audits, validations) and participate in capital planning/procurement; steward fiscal and operational resources.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field.

  • Experience: Five (5) years HLD/sterile & endoscope reprocessing in acute care, including Two (2) years supervisory/management with regulatory readiness, competency, and quality accountability.

    • Experience in Endoscopes and High-Level Disinfection, preferred.

  • Equivalency: Professional experience, beyond requirements, in a related field may substitute for a Bachelor's Degree requirement on a year for year basis.

  • Certification(s):

  • Required Certifications (at hire or within 6 months):

  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA)

    And one of the following:

  • Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) - HSPA

    • Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) - Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $84,558.69 to $126,838.03
