Are you a civil engineering student passionate about transportation systems and public safety? Fishbeck is seeking motivated, detail-oriented interns to join our Traffic Engineering team for Summer 2026. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers on projects that improve mobility, reduce congestion, and enhance roadway safety across communities.
What You'll Work On
- Assist in traffic studies, signal timing analysis, and roadway safety assessments.
- Collect and analyze traffic data including volume counts, speed studies, and crash reports.
- Working in OpenRoads Designer, SignCAD and AutoCAD software.
- Support the design of traffic control devices such as signals, signs, and pavement markings.
- Use software tools like Synchro and HCS to model and evaluate traffic operations.
- Participate in field visits to observe traffic patterns and verify site conditions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop solutions for transportation challenges.
What We're Looking For
- Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering program with a focus or interest in traffic and/or transportation.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with traffic engineering software (Synchro, HCS), OpenRoads Designer and AutoCAD is a plus.
- Previous internship or co-op experience is helpful but not required.
