About the Job

The Dehm Lab at the Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota is investigating new therapies for treatment of men with advanced prostate cancer. We seek a highly motivated, detail-oriented Researcher with a strong background in mouse genetics and molecular/cell biology to independently manage critical in vivo and in vitro research components. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, rigorous preparation and adherence to protocols, and a commitment to meticulous, timely documentation.

50% - In Vivo Mouse Model Management: Maintain and track colonies of genetically-modified mice. Includes breeding, weaning, genotyping, and precise phenotyping. Perform detailed necropsies of the genitourinary (GU) tract and other tissues for downstream analysis.

35% - Advanced Cell and Molecular Biology: Establish and maintain organoid cultures from mouse tumor tissues. Perform a range of downstream assays including western blot, RT-PCR, colony formation, and drug treatments on both established prostate cancer cell lines and novel organoid models. Ensure experimental reproducibility.

10% - Data Analysis and Communication: Meticulously record, analyze, and interpret all data in a detailed, reproducible lab notebook. Prepare written reports, figures, and oral presentations to clearly communicate research approaches and outcomes to the Principal Investigator (PI) and collaborators.

5% - Lab Operations & Compliance: Proactively contribute to overall lab organization and maintenance (e.g., reagent stock, equipment logs, regulatory binder upkeep). Ensure strict compliance with all lab safety and scheduling policies.

Qualifications

All required qualifications must be included in the application materials

Required Qualifications:
-BA/BS in Biochemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field or a combination of related education and work experience equal to 4 years.
-Essential technical skills include expertise in mouse colony management and maintenance (breeding, genotyping, phenotyping), and proficiency in sterile mammalian cell culture, western blotting, and PCR.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience in establishing and maintaining organoid or 3D cell cultures, specific experience with mouse necropsy and tissue harvesting/processing of the GU tract, and expertise with advanced molecular techniques such as chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP).

-Required professional competencies include accountability, organization, documentation, and communication.
