Job Description

Chemical Process Manufacturing Engineer

Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer position is responsible for engineering activities to develop processes, define controls, and implementing effective variability reduction efforts in manufacturing areas.

Essential Functions:

  • This role will have responsibility for the caustic leaching and acid etching processes used for core removal and grain structure inspection of investment-cast turbine airfoil components.
  • Develop manufacturing processes, establish control measures, and implement effective variability and cost reduction strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and effective execution of preventative maintenance on critical equipment.
  • Implement automated solutions to enhance operator safety, reduce process variation, and improve overall process reliability.
  • Perform daily audits to ensure adherence to established procedures on the manufacturing floor.
  • Update and revise area procedures to improve clarity and minimize process variation.
  • Analyze data to identify root causes and eliminate process excursions.
  • Conduct engineering trials to assess improvements in processes, tools, and equipment.
  • Participate in cost reduction, continuous improvement, and new part introduction (NPI) initiatives as needed.
  • Drive process improvements to reduce scrap and rework rates.
  • Collaborate with all levels of manufacturing, management, suppliers, and customers.
  • Provide hands-on, floor-level support for investigations and problem-solving.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement abilities.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing action plans that deliver measurable results.
  • Working knowledge of Zero-Defect methodologies, including PFMEA, Control Plans, and process control.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while adapting to changing situations.
  • Capable of performing effectively under high-pressure conditions and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and organizational communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership capabilities.

Desired Skills:

  • Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and effectively in collaborative team environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs and projects successfully.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.
  • Familiar with Minitab, JMP, or other statistical analysis software.
  • Proven experience in advanced manufacturing environments.

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical or materials engineering, or other related engineering discipline.
  • Hands-on experience in the airfoil investment casting industry a plus.
