As the Associate Director of Marketing, you will be responsible for leading event, webinar, and client engagement strategies for the Optum Insight Provider business. You and your team will manage end-to-end event, webinar, and client engagement program planning to ensure high-quality prospect/client activities to strengthen renewals and generate leads.

You are a high-performing marketer with a strong understanding of health care industry events. An expert communicator and project manager, you're as comfortable leading cross-functional teams as you are taking part in executive-level conversations. Process-driven and detail-oriented, you can optimize event performance while also adapting to changing environments and priorities.

Who you'll work with

You will join a talented team of marketers, responsible for growing the Optum Insight Provider footprint in the market, generating valuable new business leads, and empowering our sales and client management colleagues. You will work closely with 3rd party vendors, marketing, markets and growth teams, and product leaders. This is a hybrid role working out of the MN or DC offices.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead event, webinar, and client engagement strategies
  • Manage end-to-end event, webinar, and client engagement program planning to ensure high-quality prospect/client activities to strengthen renewals and generate leads
  • Develop, streamline, and create best practices, processes, and reporting, keeping the business goals and policies in alignment
  • Responsible for managing and overseeing complex budgets to meet financial obligations while ensuring an exceptional attendee experience
  • Review and manage relationships with existing and potential vendors, ensuring mature utilization of existing tools and roadmap development
  • Oversee various work stream leaders who manage different program components, and manage contract staff and others who are responsible execution
  • Understand and keep up with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies in both live and virtual environments. Serve as a resource and subject matter expert the team can rely on
  • Maintain and build strong working relationships with cross-functional peers while adhering to established RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed) / workstream guidelines for programs
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and the Executive Leadership Team to ensure a clear understanding of event goals and objectives, playing a pivotal role in advising and supporting decisions that drive the success and outcomes of the activities
  • Identifies and resolves technical, operational and organizational problems outside own team
  • Provides leadership to and is accountable for the performance of managers and/or senior level professional staff

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of project/event management or marketing experience within a matrix organization
  • 10+ years of experience in a deadline driven environment
  • 10+ years of experience in meeting sales promotion/marketing targets
  • 2+ years of management experience and demonstrated Interest in managing
  • Experience with and expertise in marketing, project management, data visualization, and/or event technologies (e.g., Marketo, Workfront, PowerBI, Cvent, On24, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated experience using communications and interpersonal skills (internal/external)
  • Demonstrated experience using organizational skills
  • Ability to be flexible and work with ambiguity
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time for onsite event execution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) Certification
  • Demonstrated understanding of the healthcare industry event and tradeshow landscape

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $110,200 to $188,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
