The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Site Superintendent - Department of Defense. The Site Superintendent provides on site leadership for installation, integration, testing, and maintenance activities for Industrial Control Systems, including UMCS, HVAC controls and DDC, SCADA, Fire Alarm Systems, Electronic Security Systems, and metering. The role coordinates daily work, interfaces with facility stakeholders, oversees subcontractors and craft labor, enforces safety and quality processes, validates materials and submittals, supports commissioning, and ensures work conforms to approved plans and specifications. This role supports a Department of Defense mission and partners closely with the Project Manager to meet scope, schedule, cost, quality, cybersecurity, and safety objectives.

Required Experience & Skills



  • Five (5) years of experience related to HVAC systems with associated controls and site execution responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with Government or industry processes, procedures, standards, methodologies, and tools relevant to controls, life safety, and security systems.
  • Hands on coordination of daily work plans, look ahead schedules, tool box talks, and daily reports.
  • Working knowledge of drawings, specs, RFIs, submittals, red lines, and as built documentation.
  • Experience participating in three phase inspections, material receiving/verification, and readiness for testing and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of lockout/tagout, confined space awareness, hot work permitting, and other typical site controls.
  • Ability to read control schematics, panel schedules, device layouts, and understand sequences of operation.
  • Strong communication skills for coordination with facility representatives, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Proficiency with basic office tools for reporting and photo documentation.
  • Ability to travel to active project sites, including secure facilities.
  • Active Secret Clearance


Preferred Experience & Skills



  • Prior superintendent or foreman experience on federal projects involving UMCS, ESS, SCADA, HVAC controls, or fire alarm systems.
  • Familiarity with EM 385-1-1 safety requirements and Quality Control processes, including three phase inspections and corrective action tracking.
  • OSHA 30 or equivalent safety training.
  • NICET, manufacturer, or trade credentials related to HVAC controls, fire alarm, or electronic security.
  • Experience supporting integrated system testing and turnover.


Required Education



  • High School diploma plus technical training in a field related to task assignment.


Preferred Education



  • Additional vocational certifications or coursework in HVAC, controls, electrical, or related trades.

Travel



  • Minimum 25% to job sites CONUS and OCONUS as required by task orders.
