POSITION SPECIFICS

We are searching for an experienced engineering technologist to join our Trusted Systems Engineering Department in the Strategic Systems Operation Division at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. The SSO Division enables our customers to leverage advanced technologies, transforming them into data-driven decision makers for the effective sustainment of their critical assets.

You will:

  • Collaborate with project leadership and provide system level engineering support for the design, development, integration, and testing of individual C-C5ISRT systems, to include supporting the implementation with multi-domain C-C5ISRT systems

  • Conduct site viability surveys for sponsor RF systems - evaluation considerations include electrical power availability, local radio frequency environment, command/control communications options, adequacy of physical security, and site visibility to the operational area

  • Develop and/or assist in the development of tailored training materials that align with the education and experience level of the trainees, ensuring operational relevance; participate in training sessions to enhance practical application

  • Evaluate hardware designs (ARL and vendor) from both a component selection and physical layout perspective - evaluation considerations include performance, price, sustainability, and ease of manufacturing; provide suggestions for corrections or improvements; and participate in the actual hardware build/test as requested

  • Research and identify improvements to existing ARL technologies, ensuring they remain relevant with existing clients; perform business development efforts aimed at identifyingand securing new clients for existing ARL technologies

Required skills/experience areas include:

  • Military or DoD background, with prior Navy-related SAP experience

  • Extensive HW/SW/Systems expertise

  • Systems engineering, supporting the design, implementation, testing, and operational evaluation of EW and communications systems

  • Successful completion of formal military training courses addressing multiple technical and operational disciplines relevant to RF systems

  • Team leadership, supporting technologies and logistics relevant to the design, deployment, and operations of C5ISRT and C-C5ISRT systems

  • Development and delivery of executive level briefings to DoD/IC offices

  • Development and delivery of various trainings across disciplines related to RF systems

  • Active security clearance at the TS/SCI level

Your working location will be fully on-site, located in State College, PA. This position will require periodic travel to remote locations/OCONUS travel in support of testing as part of a small team of researchers, engineers, and technologists.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 8+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $86,300.00 - $129,500.00.**THE PROPOSED SALARY RANGE MAY BE IMPACTED BY GEOGRAPHIC DIFFERENTIAL**
