Job Title: Parts Clerk Company: Novak Sanitary Services, a Waste Connections Company Location: Sioux Falls, SD Schedule: Full-Time Position Summary The Parts Clerk is responsible for supporting fleet and maintenance operations by managing inventory, ordering parts and supplies, maintaining accurate records, and providing excellent internal customer service. This role plays a critical part in keeping vehicles and equipment operational while supporting safety, efficiency, and cost control. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Order, receive, and issue parts, tools, and supplies for fleet maintenance and shop operations
- Maintain accurate inventory records, including tracking usage, stock levels, and reordering needs
- Coordinate with vendors to obtain pricing, place orders, resolve backorders, and ensure timely delivery
- Verify shipments for accuracy and inspect parts for damage or defects
- Organize and maintain parts room, storage areas, and inventory systems
- Work closely with mechanics and maintenance supervisors to identify parts needs and ensure availability
- Process invoices, packing slips, and purchase orders in accordance with company policies
- Conduct routine cycle counts and participate in physical inventory audits
- Maintain safety standards and proper handling of materials
- Assist with warranty claims and core returns as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in parts inventory, warehouse, or maintenance support preferred
- Knowledge of heavy-duty truck parts, equipment, or fleet operations is a plus
- Basic computer skills and experience with inventory or purchasing systems
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication and customer service skills
- Forklift experience or ability to obtain certification preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday
- Work in a shop or warehouse environment, including exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures
