The Cardiac Imaging Core Lab (CICL), Directed by Scott D. Solomon, MD, is an academic research organization located within the Brigham and Women's Hospital, a Harvard-affiliated hospital. Through close collaboration with academic, NIH, and industry partners, the CICL supports a wide range of activities including echocardiographic study design, analysis, and central core lab operations for primarily large-scale national and international clinical trials. There are approximately 40 staff supporting 40+ clinical trials ongoing at any given time with a typical volume of 1000 - 1500 echos received each month.
Reporting to the CICL Executive Director and working under the supervision of Harvard Faculty Directors, the Sr. Echo Analyst is responsible for especially complex overreading of assigned studies. This overreading is a critical quality check of analysis already performed and requires expert judgement and skill which is over and above Echo Analyst level.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Serves as an integral part of the research team providing echocardiographic overreading for assigned studies.

2. Performs echocardiographic strain analysis of heart size and function in a high quality, scientific, and reproducible manner. These analyses may include but are not limited to: 2D, 3D, M Mode, Color Doppler, strain, etc.

3. Is an integral member of the QA review process of analyzed data and requests re-review as needed of assigned Echo Analysts.

4. Advises CICL Executive Director with technical research direction as it relates to the overall research scope of the CICL.

6. Participates in lab wide and/or project specific meetings.

7. Adheres to all CICL SOPs as well as internal system and technical requirements for performing within this role.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MD with cardiovascular experience or PhD with cardiovascular research experience in human subject clinical trials is required.

Candidate requires either 5 years leadership experience within CICL or at least 10 years prior leadership experience overseeing echo analysis.

Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, cardiac pathophysiology hemodynamics and echocardiography assessment of heart disease is required. Advanced knowledge in echocardiography including but not limited to: 3-D, gradient analysis, etc. is preferred.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

* Ability to perform echocardiographic analysis analyze 2D, M Mode, Color Doppler, strain, etc. is required.

* Strong research design and analytical skills.

* Strong computer and database statistical skills.

* Excellent time management/organizational skills.

* Able to multitask and assign priorities in a busy, challenging environment.

* Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary research team.
