THE POSITION

Are you a dependable and hard-working individual who enjoys spending time outdoors? The Fish and Boat Commission is on the lookout for a Fishing Boating Facilities Maintainer for Maintenance Area 4, a multi-county region in Southcentral Pennsylvania. This is specialized skilled work in the maintenance and repair of fishing and boating facilities. In this position, you will be working for an environmental agency that supports the mission "to protect, conserve and enhance the Commonwealth's aquatic resources and provide fishing and boating opportunities." You will leave work each day knowing that you played a part in helping provide recreational outdoor opportunities for individuals and families that enjoy Pennsylvania's waterways and natural resources.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The position works with the Facilities Supervisor in the Bureau of Engineering and provides vital services through the execution and performance of maintenance duties in support of several Bureaus. This position performs critical service duties to maintain PFBC facilities in a multi-county region. Additionally, this position performs a broad range of maintenance including but not limited to weed eating, litter picking, mowing access areas and dams, repairing damaged concrete launch ramps, installing signage, servicing mowers and tractors, and other miscellaneous tasks.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience operating commercial or industrial-use wheeled or tracked motor vehicles used in groundskeeping, outdoor construction work, agriculture, mining, or forestry work; or
  • Two years of semi-skilled work experience in commercial building or plant maintenance and repair work; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Post-Employment Requirement:

  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain within the probationary period a Class A commercial driver's license (CDL).

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be willing and able to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Must be able to be called in to work for emergency situations.
  • Must be willing to work some weekends.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
