Transportation Technician

In this position, you will play a key role in reviewing completed work units and materials to ensure compliance with Department policies and accuracy. Your responsibilities will include coordinating and managing the district's field construction project records and documentation through the use of ECMS, the PennDOT Project Collaboration Center (PPCC), and mobile construction applications on PennDOT-issued iPads. You will also conduct technical reviews of material costs associated with highway and bridge construction projects, ensuring that all documentation and work orders submitted by Project Management staff are complete and accurate to facilitate payments. Additionally, you will inspect construction activities on roads and bridges to verify that the work meets the established plans, specifications, and contract requirements.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) ad-hoc, as approved, after successful completion of probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Montoursville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
• One year of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

• This particular position also requires possession of a Class C non-commercial driver's license.
